The Light Lit

I

Beyond the mountains and the dust,
A new Evil has arisen.
An Evil that cannot be held,
For it stems from mere religion.
It carries not a face or mind,
But looks you in the eye each day.
It preys on those who are so weak,
That this Evil makes their souls give way.
How sad this evil can’t be stopped.
How sad these souls must take this path.
How sad a child is robbed of choice.
As we now watch this aftermath…

II

On the eleventh day with
Our year but nine months old,
The third millennium was
Brought into the cold.
The sun was shrouded and the
Birds refused to take flight.
Three marks of the horizon –
Were taken from our eye.
As the souls of the city
Woke up for a new hour.
A thunder came from above.
How brave did so cower.
And those so high up skywards,
Who travelled on that day.
Who called their loves, when time stopped,
Are now forever slain.
Those who sat aloft so high,
Saw death with wings come forth.
Their memory is all left,
From that morn in New York…

And what of the capital?
Where walls were built to last.
Where this great nation stood strong,
And lies now in the past.
As people watched in horror.
It had but just begun.
Another winged Reaper took flight,
To watch it’s bloody run.
The scriptures of the bible,
Could not portray such hell.
The pain, the chaos, the tears.
The ringing of the bell.
Another, which was to curse,
Had proved the coming test,
Shot down when they were so young,
Their lives were put to rest.
So four birds, of man’s own hands –
Turned for Evils black thought.
As we prepare for what waits –
Souls of the dead are brought…

IV

The beginning had ended,
As the many were lost.
With the falling of castles
Was the bringing of dust.
The dawn of what had happened,
The search beneath the rock.
When the world stood still and watched,
The ticking of the clock.
A sight that you would not wish.
The shock fell in on our hearts.
The day that anger walked on,
Was tearing us apart.
To watch it over and more,
To see it took some tears.
How easy it was for them,
The planning and the years.
The world, the same? Not again.
How will we take it now.
As we are brought to evil,
The silence holds the sound…

V

For the people are now dead.
Their souls now gone away.
They had no crime to carry –
But they shan’t see today.
Nor will they see their loved ones,
Who stand right now so lost.
Who search beneath the rubble.
Who’ll search at any cost.
Of those who leapt to their death,
Of those who flew and died.
To watch those fall with towers,
How many of us cried.
What of those who gave their life,
When searching was to do.
To be crushed by the Evil.
And yet still not be through.
Heaven must be sad tonight,
Those people took so fast.
The Devil must be smiling
At victory at last…

VI

But NO! This is not over,
The good world now holds hands.
To bring aloft the spirit.
To join all of the hands.
Because the good ones are great,
Death’s knocked us but not won,
This Evil will now flee for
And throw beyond its gun.
To watch the world this moment,
To view it’s unity,
Be proud to be a human,
For we’ll see victory.
Watch Evil cower once more,
Retreat back down to Hell.
Let’s shed our tears and walk forth,
Up to the wishing well.
Out of Darkness comes The Light,
Let us fight this terror.
God Bless the Souls, the People,
God Bless America…
