The Last Jew In Vinnitsa

They called him the last jew in Vinnitsa,
They said this for they did not care.
But he had a name,
He had a wife –
And he had a sorrowed beaten stare.

He knelt among the dead,
Who fell six feet below.
While a member of the Einsatzgruppe,
Raised a gun, and smiled for show.

Surrounded by his soliders,
They watched and killed them all.
Within their souls,
They shot that gun,
And watched his body fall.

The image of the poor Jew staring,
The final moments of his life,
The fear of being innocent,
He had a name, he had a wife.

As did the twenty eight thousand more,
All silent, tears, through hate they’ve gone.
The Einsatzgruppe,
Cared not for those,
They’d more to kill, they must move on.

To see a soul as time tolls loud,
So many should have never died.
To see a soul as death takes hold.
To see his sorrowed looking eyes.
